The Past Christmases House. La casa dei Natali passati

 

The last winter had short days as usual but was not cold at all, we even left the lemon trees outside instead of recovering them in the winter garden, but still I really miss the snowy Christmas days of my childhood, so this project with icicles at the windows is an homage to memories of past Christmases as in the Dickens’ tale.

Lo scorso inverno ha avuto giorni corti come al solito, ma per niente freddi. abbiamo persino lasciato i limoni fuori senza proteggerli nella limonaia, ma mi mancano i giorni che minacciavano neve intorno a Natale, quindi possiamo dire che questo progetto con i ghiaccioli alle finestre è un omaggio ai ricordi dei Natali passati come nel racconto di Dickens.

Here how to build the Past Christmases House.

Ecco come si costruisce la Casa dei Natali passati.

Start with the making of the removable base (with 2 small holes for the fingers and one to accomodate the light). Iniziamo con la preparazione della base rimovibile, con le due aperture per le dita e quella più grande per accomodare le luci.

The central part of the facade with the main door, the banner and the two elements of the window,  the yellow frame inside and the roof and railings brown piece to attach outside once decorated with icicles. La parte centrale della facciata con il portone, lo striscione e le due parti del finestrone, il telaio giallo all'interno e il pezzo "tettuccio e ringhiera" marrone da attaccare all'esterno una volta decorato coi ghiaccioli pendenti.

Same scheme for the back, only 2 squared opening instead of entrance and ribbon. Stesso schema per il retro, solo con due aperture squadrate al posto di portone e striscione.

At the sides of the previous elements in a little recessed position are these  four small walls of the side wings. Ai lati dei due elementi precedenti in posizione un po' arretrata ci sono questi quattro muri stretti delle ali laterali .

To link these walls we have two "bridge" elements that are the walls of the central portion of the main building . Per unire questi muri ci sono due elementi "a ponte" che sono i muri del corpo centrale della casa.

And at last the face walls of the two wings, with smaller Gothic revival windows to repeat the design. Quindi i due muri principali delle ali con due finestre neo-gotiche a riprendere lo schema.

The cover of the window recess in detail: first just folded, then  with glue and finally paired with the icicles. La copertura delle finestre nella loggia in dettaglio: prima solo piegate, quindi incollate e infine appaiate ai loro ghiaccioli.

The larger for the main building the smaller for the wings. Le più grandi per l'edificio centrale, le più piccole per le ali.

The  window recess in detail: first just folded and with glue and finally in their position at the back side of the walls. La copertura delle finestre nella loggia in dettaglio: prima solo piegate e incollate e infine nella loro posizione sul lato interno dei muri.

Align the element at the center using the point of the opening and the meeting point of the curtains as reference and have an eye that the tabs do not show through the openings of the balaustrade. Allineiamo l'elemento giallo col muro al centro  usando la cuspide della bucatura e il punto di incontro delle tende come riferimento, facendo caso che le linguette non sporgano attraverso i buchi della balaustra.

The gate in position : note the alignement with the holes of the knockers. Il portone in posizione notare l'allineamento ai buchi dei battiporta.

Attach  the brown frame to the wall considering well where to put the glue and aligning it properly using the diamond holes in the balaustre as reference. Attacchiamo la  copertura delle finestre nella loggia facendo caso a dove mettiamo la colla e allineandole bene usando i buchi romboidali della balaustra come riferimento.

Write our best wishes on the banner and complete it with the darker tails. Scriviamo i nostri auguri sul banner e completiamolo con le code scure.

Completing the back.  Completiamo il retro.

All the walls in parade. The main building will be constructed by front, back and the two side bridges elements, the two wings will be built by the other walls. Tutti i muri in parata. Il cuore dell'edificio sarà composto da fronte e retro uniti dagli elementi ponte laterali, le ali saranno costruite dai restanti muri.

Ready to attach the second wing, always verify the balance of the structure positioning it on a flat surface. Pronti ad attaccare la seconda ala, verificare sempre l'equilibrio della struttura posizionandola su una superficie piana.

Last passage to close the structure: glue the back.  Ultimo passo per chiudere la struttura: incollare il retro.

Here comes the roof. Qui iniziamo a mettere il tetto.

The first passage is to fold the lines close to the gutter side one inward and the other backward to form the tabs to glue to the wall. Il primo passaggio è piegare le linee verso la grondaia una all'interno e l'altra all'esterno così da formare la linguetta che si attaccherà ai muri.

On the slopes of the roof we have additional  half moon tabs to attach inside the walls to strenghten the structure. Sulle falde del tetto abbiamo anche delle linguette a mezzaluna da incollare ai muri per irrobustire la struttura.

The same procedure done for the big roof creates the small tabs at the gutter side.  La stessa procedura già vista per il tetto grande ottiene le piccole linguette di gronda.

These are the pieces to build each of the two spikes.  Questi sono i pezzi per costruire ognuno dei due pinnacoli.

  

A small tool can come handy for small glue work. Un piccolo attrezzo può esser d'aiuto per piccoli incollaggi.

Passing through the small roof still missing to press on the glue line. Aiutiamoci passando dal tetto piccolo che ancora non c'è.

Gently open a space between roof and walls to put the glue on the half moon tabs. Apriamo delicatamente un piccolo spazio fra tetto e muri per incollare le linguette semilunari.

Same thing after all the other glue is set must be done for the small roofs. La stessa cosa va fatta quando tutti gli altri incollaggi sono asciutti per i tetti piccoli.

The half moon tabs of the small roofs that must be glued to the bridge element must be glued from inside with a small tool helping. Le linguette semilunari dei tetti piccoli sul lato degli elementi ponte vanno incollate a questi dall'interno magari con l'aiuto di un piccolo attrezzo.

The front has a two step stair case, here how to fold it. La scala sul fronte è fatta da due soli scalini, ecco come piegarli.

First you must build up the rounded part of the bottom front step gluing the two tabs, when this are dry you can close te structure gluing the remaining seven.. Prima va costruita la parte arrotondata dello  scalino più basso incollando le due linguette poi una volta che questo è asciutto si può chiudere la stuttura incollando le restanti sette linguette.

For the smaller step there is no need to glue the micro triangular tabs , just fold them inside and then glue the bigger 5 tabs and close the slab. Per il gradino più piccolo non serve incollare le micro linguette triangolari, basta piegarle all'interno, poi incollare le restanti 5 linguette e chiudere la lastra.

The two steps aligned at the back and centered leave space for the trees at the sides. I due gradini allineati sul retro e centrati lasciano spazio ai due alberi ai lati.

We get our house that was resting with its base and glue the steps under the gate and center the trees. Prendiamo la nostra casa che abbiamo fatto riposare con la sua base e incolliamo la scalinata sotto il portone e centriamo gli alberelli.
